Kaiju
I created an illustration as part of the Illustration Rally Ganbare Nippon appeal to raise some money for the Japanese Red Cross. A charity event was also held at The Book Club in Shoreditch. A charity zine was created containing donated artwork from various artists from around the world.
A few years ago I spent a long Winter month travelling up and down Japan to Tokyo, Kobe, Nagano, Nagoya and Hiroshima to name a few. The travelling experience has had a lasting effect on me. I felt compelled to create something for the Ganbare Nippon appeal - an illustration containing all of my favourite Kaiju monsters in all of their budget 'guy in a rubber costume' glory. Cinemassacre's review of Godzilla Vs. Megalon highlights the reasons why monsters are such a big part of Japanese pop-culture.
